NASCAR's Bubba Wallace Targeted by Derogatory Radio Hijack
Bubba Wallace, the only full-time Black NASCAR driver, saw an apparent hack on his team radio during the waning moments of a race at North Wilkesboro Speedway that contained derogatory messages. Now, NASCAR officials are investigating.
As Motorsport.com reports, someone accessed No. 23 23XI Racing's team radio during the race and said “Go back to where you came from you asshole," as well as, "You suck and you’re not wanted in NASCAR." Wallace reportedly did not hear the comments.
NASCAR officials told the outlet its security operation is trying to determine who was able to access the channel and why. The driver has not publicly commented on the incident as of publication. As RacingNews notes, NASCAR radio hacks are not an uncommon occurrence, and previous hacks targeting Bubba have contained racist messages.
Wallace was loudly booed at the race by NASCAR fans:
The boos for @BubbaWallace after today’s truck race & during driver intros were very loud at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

A @wsoctv reporter asked a great question about how/if that affects Bubba.
Wallace gave a great answer in return. #NASCAR pic.twitter.com/0VDHtUZ7c0
Wallace was previously in the eye of controversy in NASCAR in 2020 after a teammate found a noose hanging in Wallace's garage in Talladega. The driver saw an outpouring of support at the time, although a subsequent FBI investigation found that the rope was a garage door pull in place since 2019 and wasn't targeted towards Wallace specifically.

Wallace landed in second place in the race behind Kyle Larson at the newly refurbished speedway, although the nature of the race meant he came away with none of the $1 million prize money. He called his performance the "best of the rest" in a post-race interview, but said he planned to keep building on his recent momentum.
